Bituminous waterproofing membranes during their life cycle undergo many stresses due to external environmental factors. Due to temperature variations, both the roofing membrane and the substrate undergo continuous deformation.
The ability to withstand such deformations represents the main characteristic that a roofing membrane must have. The use of selected raw materials united by special formulations assumes a key role in the production of these products, determining the performance and durability of the waterproofing membrane.
Surface finishing with slate granules is used to protect polymer bitumen membranes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Slate is available in colors: natural gray, green, red and white.
The use of this finish allows the life of the roofing coat to be extended, as it protects it frompremature aging caused by the sun’s rays.
It is a special bituminous adhesive compound coated with an easily removable silicone film.
These membranes are used when open flames cannot be used.
The compound is a mixture of distilled bitumen and selected polymers (BP), specially formulated to obtain membranes with specific characteristics.
The main difference between the types of compounds is the polymers used to modify the bitumen.
Used for making elastomeric membranes, it gives excellent workability at low temperature and offers resistance to mechanical stress due to its elasticity. This type of compound has the limitation of being unstable at high temperatures and is not resistant to UV radiation.
Used for elastoplastomeric membranes, it has good UV resistance and high thermal stability. Compared with the SBS compound, it is less elastic and flexible at low temperatures.
The compound made with the use of polyolefin polymers makes it possible to combine the best properties of SBS membranes with those of APP membranes, achieving high flexibility at low temperatures and good UV resistance.
Special Anti-root additives (Preventol B5) make the compound resistant to plant roots, ensuring reliable waterproofing.

The laying surface should be clean, without dust, debris, grease, leaves, cracks or other irregularities. Before the application of the membrane, a coat of bituminous primer will have to be spread.
During installation, the material should be flame heated across the entire width of the roll, especially along overlaps. Side overlaps should be about 10cm, and head overlaps about 15cm.
In the case of a double layer, the next coat should be applied by staggering it by 50cm from the previous one. The overlaps of head and side should be performed as in Step 4.
When performing head overlaps in slate products, it is necessary to remove the slate with a trowel in order to Improve the adhesion between the two coats.
When performing head overlaps in slate products, it is necessary to remove the slate with a trowel in order to Improve the adhesion between the two coats.
The surface should be clean of dust, debris, grease, leaves, and free of gaps and cracks or other irregularities. In addition, before applying mastic, the surface must be treated with primer.
The mastic is applied to the laying surface by means of a trowel. Cold-applied mastic (with reduced solvent content) is recommended. IMPORTANT. Mastic should always be applied on the laying surface and not on the waterproofing sheet.
In the case of using mastic for bonding membranes, over an existing slated membrane, the mastic should be spread so that a continuous layer is formed in order to avoid the formation of folds and bubbles. IMPORTANT. Only materials with a sandblasted top finish are suitable for this type of application.
Lay the bituminous membrane over the mastic and then pass a heavy roller to improve adhesion and eliminate bubbles or creases.
Press the area of the overlaps well, both side and top, until the mastic leaks out.
